Discount codes
Promo codes and early-bird pricing for your shop, tickets and registrations.
The Discount codes page lets your organisation run promo codes across its commerce surfaces — the online shop, event tickets and registration forms — plus date-windowed early-bird pricing on registration forms. Codes are entered by the buyer at checkout, and the saving is locked onto each order so editing or archiving a code never changes past orders. You'll find it under Revenue → Discount codes in the admin sidebar.
Who can use this
Discount codes are a Standard plan feature. Club administrators and moderators can create, edit and archive codes.
Two things codes deliberately don't replace:
- Member pricing on tickets stays automatic — financial members get the member price with no code, and a code stacks on top of whatever price the buyer already earned.
- Sibling discounts and pro-rata on registration forms keep working exactly as before; a code applies after them.
What's on the page
- A New discount code form — code, percent or dollar value, which surfaces it applies to, an optional date window, redemption cap and minimum spend.
- A codes table with each code's value, window, redemption count and live/archived status. Search by code, filter to current or archived.
Step by step
Create a promo code
- Open Revenue → Discount codes.
- Type the code buyers will enter (letters, numbers and dashes — it's stored uppercase, for example
EARLYBIRD25). - Choose % off or $ off and the value.
- Tick where it applies: Shop orders, Event tickets and/or Registrations.
- Optionally set a start/expiry window, a redemption cap (how many orders can use it) and a minimum spend.
- Select Create code and share it in your newsletter, socials or flyers.
Set early-bird pricing on a registration form
- Open the form under Revenue → Registrations and find the Early-bird fields next to the sibling discount.
- Set Early-bird ends (the cut-off date and time) and a discount in cents or percent.
- Everyone who completes the form before the cut-off gets the discount automatically — no code needed — and the checkout shows an early-bird banner with the deadline.
Retire a code
- Select Archive on the code's row. New orders can no longer use it; orders that already used it keep their snapshot.
- Archived codes can be Restored later if you change your mind.
Field reference
| Field | What it does |
|---|---|
| Code | What the buyer types at checkout. Unique per organisation, case-insensitive. |
| % off / $ off | The saving. Percent applies to the items subtotal; dollar amounts never exceed the subtotal. |
| Applies to | Which checkouts accept the code — shop, tickets, registrations, or any combination. |
| Starts / Expires | Optional window. Outside it the code is refused. |
| Redemption cap | Optional maximum number of paid orders that can use the code. |
| Minimum spend | Optional order minimum (on the items subtotal) before the code applies. |
| Redeemed | How many paid orders have used the code so far. |
Tips & FAQ
- Does the discount reduce shipping or tax? No — the code applies to the items subtotal. Shipping is charged in full, and tax is calculated on the undiscounted base (the simple, predictable rule).
- Buyer says the code "isn't valid"? Check the window hasn't passed, the redemption cap isn't reached, the right surface is ticked, and the order meets any minimum spend.
- Can a code make an order free? Yes — a 100% code (or a dollar amount at least the subtotal) drops the items to $0. Shop orders with shipping still charge the shipping.
- Do codes work with instalment plans? Yes — the discounted total is what gets split into instalments.
- Can I see which orders used a code? Each order's record shows the code and the amount saved; the table shows the total redemption count per code.
