Content calendar

Content calendar: see a month or a week of what your website publishes and when, in your organisation's time zone: pages, news posts and events that are live, scheduled to go live or scheduled to come down, plus the day each event happens. Filter by kind and state, open any item's editor, and change when it goes live or comes down with Change time. Drafts with no publish time are listed beside it. Pages don't record a publish date, so a live page shows only when it has a take-down time.

The content calendar shows what your website is publishing and when: pages, news posts and events that are live, scheduled to go live, or scheduled to come down, on one month or one week. You'll find it under Website management → Content calendar in the admin sidebar, just below Pages.

Beside the calendar is a list of unscheduled drafts: pages, news posts and events that are still drafts and have no publish time, so nothing will put them live until someone does.

Who can use this

Admins and moderators, the same people who can publish pages and events. To reschedule a news post you also need the Publish news permission. Members can't see this screen.

What's on the page

  • The calendar. Month view shows each day as a box. Week view lists the seven days one under the other. Every time is in your organisation's time zone, which is named at the top of the page.
  • Items. Each item says what it is and what happens, in words: for example "News · Goes live 9:00 am" or "Event · Listing comes down". The coloured edge only repeats what the words already say.
  • Previous, Today and Next move through months or weeks. Month and Week switch views.
  • Filters. Tick the kinds (Pages, News, Events) and states you want, then select Apply filters. The filters are part of the web address, so you can bookmark or share a filtered view. Leaving every box unticked shows everything.
  • Unscheduled drafts, most recently edited first, each linking to its editor.

On a phone the month view becomes a list of the days that have something on.

Tips & FAQ

Why don't my live pages show? Pages don't record the day they were published. A live page appears only when it has a take-down time. News posts and events show their publish date.

Why does a recurring event appear only once? The calendar shows a recurring event on its first date only.

How exact are the times? Scheduled changes happen within 5 minutes of the time you set.

Can I drag an item to another day? No. Use Change time, which works with a keyboard, a mouse or a screen reader and checks the same rules as the editors.

Which time zone is used? Your organisation's time zone for the calendar. An event with its own time zone is rescheduled in that zone, and the Change time box says which zone.
